Sarah Lianne Lewis

Sarah Lianne Lewis (b.1988) is a Welsh composer whose music often explores instrumental textures and the aural architecture of performance spaces.  She studied at Cardiff University between 2006 and 2011, receiving a BA 2:1 (Hons) in Music and History, and an MMus in Composition.  Since graduating, she has received several commissions and performances from UK and European festivals, and has enjoyed working with a variety of performers, leading educational workshops, recording sessions and rehearsals, and holding public masterclasses discussing her music.

In 2016 Is there no seeker of dreams that were? was premiered by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, subsequently broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Wales, and shortlisted for the ISCM Wales Section of the ISCM World Music Days Vancouver 2017.

 

Sarah is currently an Embedded composer with Sound and Music and Quatuor Bozzini's Composers' Kitchen, writing a new piece for string quartet.  During 2017, she will also be developing a work for chamber choir (Tenso Young Composers Workshop 2016/2017), and composing a new orchestral work for the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France (ManiFeste Academie 2017).
